At the beginning of the semester, I felt like I didn't have the ability to make aesthetically pleasing and intellectual artwork. I had these doubts, mostly I think, because I have never forced myself to make work and refine my work consistently. While I didn't always make the best choices to move in the direction I intended, I think it still helped me work through my ideas. All together, I wasn't surprised my work improved when I spent more time working through the ideas. I also found that forcing myself to tackle only specific ideas and to work them instead of spreading myself thinly on multiple ideas was very helpful. When I focus on many ideas I tend not to give any of them enough thought and it is helpful to realize this was a weakness. When it comes to my actual work, I certainly found it interesting to work in video. Though I've never done any video work before I found it to be just as much fun and as captivating to me as photography. I was attempting to be as self referential as possible in all of my work without being too obvious or literal, and I think I succeeded in this regard. While I don't think my work was incredibly profound, I do think it was somewhat insightful to anyone who was hoping to understand me.
